- Job specifications are read and interpreted.
- Workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements, including personal protection needs, are observed throughout the work.
- Materials are selected and inspected for quality.
- Hand, power tooling and safety equipment are identified and checked for operation.
- Procedures are determined to minimise waste material.
- Procedures are identified for maximising energy efficiency while completing the job.
- Prepare surfaces for rust prevention and sound deadening materials
- Surfaces are cleaned and dried to enable the rust prevention and sound deadening material to adhere.
- Surfaces are prepared without causing damage to component or system.
- Preparation activities are carried out according to industry regulations/guidelines, WHS requirements, legislation and enterprise procedures/policies.
- Apply special treatments and/or materials
- The environment for the application of special treatments or material conforms to requirements for temperature, extraction of fumes and cleanliness.
- Special treatments and/or materials are applied as per manufacturer/component supplier recommendations.
- Special treatments or materials are dried using approved methods and equipment, as necessary.
- Application is completed without causing damage to component or system.
- Application of special treatments or materials is completed within established industry guidelines.
- The finished product meets specifications for mechanical fastening and/or application for coverage depth, and texture, and is contaminant free.
- Application activities are carried out according to industry regulations/guidelines, WHS requirements, legislation and enterprise procedures/policies.
- Clean up work area and maintain equipment
- Material that can be reused is collected and stored.
- Waste material is disposed of and/or stored in accordance with statutory and enterprise requirements.
- Equipment and work area are cleaned and inspected for serviceable condition in accordance with workplace procedures.
- Unserviceable equipment is tagged and faults identified in accordance with workplace procedures.
- Operator maintenance is completed in accordance with manufacturer/component supplier specifications and worksite procedures.
- Tooling is maintained in accordance with workplace procedures.
